Why China Chit-Chat?
China impacts everyone. 1.4 billion people. Rising superpower. Global trading champion. World’s largest consumer market. Destined to become the world’s largest economy.
Despite the vast inflows of foreign investment into China in the last three decades, doing business in and with China remains very much a mystery for many international companies. I have been a lawyer working on China issues since moving to Shanghai in 1993. In 2000, I was the first foreign partner with leading Chinese law firm King & Wood Mallesons and have been splitting my time between Europe and China since 2018.
Working as a lawyer for 30 years with China has made me realize two things:
I have experience and views that may be of interest to international businesses looking at China; and
No-one reads my articles where I seek to share these experiences and views.
